As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club team, you will work alongside the Dock Experience Manager to support daily club operations and lead the dock team in delivering remarkable member experiences. We are looking for a strong Dock Master to help maintain an impeccably clean and operationally ready fleet, oversee day-to-day dock activities, and provide coaching and development to Dock Hands. In addition to performing dock operations, you will support staffing coordination, operational readiness, inventory management, and compliance activities to help ensure the club runs smoothly.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all duties required by Dock Hand.
  • Act as the lead team member, helping prioritize work, delegate tasks, and ensure operational standards are consistently achieved.
  • Assist with labor planning and scheduling by providing staffing recommendations, coordinating shift coverage, and communicating operational staffing needs to the Dock Experience Manager.
  • Train and onboard new Dock Hands on company policies, safety procedures, service standards, vessel readiness expectations, and operational processes.
  • Ensure employees are completing daily tasks in Fleetio, the fleet management system.
  • Deliver ongoing coaching and feedback to support employee development and accountability.
  • Monitor dock operations and proactively address operational issues to ensure a safe, clean, and member-ready environment.
  • Maintain fleet readiness by overseeing vessel cleanliness, fueling, equipment functionality, and overall presentation to company standards.
  • Ensure club facilities, docks, equipment, and inventory are maintained in an organized, safe, and operationally ready condition.
  • Support inventory management activities, including tracking supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and communicating replenishment needs.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for member concerns and service recovery opportunities, working to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Partner with the Dock Experience Manager on complex member concerns, operational challenges, and situations requiring additional leadership support.
  • Support compliance with company policies, safety requirements, regulatory standards, and operational procedures while identifying and escalating risks or concerns.
  • Ensure personal appearance and uniform guidelines are being adhered to.
  • Complete required administrative responsibilities including operational documentation, fuel tracking, inventory reporting, checklists, and other club records.
  • Assist with special projects, operational initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Pass a background/education check, and drug screen
  • Have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Highly effective communications skills and strong customer service skills
  • Desire to perform minor boat maintenance (engine oil, drive oil, filters, bilge pump, etc.)
  • Ability to regularly complete the physical demands of the role including bending, kneeling, balancing and carrying equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies
  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
  • Positive, cooperative attitude with the capability of working unsupervised
  • Availability to regularly work weekdays, weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Vocational degree
  • Or 1-2 years of related operations experience
  • Experience leading or supervising a team
  • Boating Safety ID card
  • Experience in and around boats
  • Strong attention to detail

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors and in various weather conditions for an extended period of time
  • Work in a marina setting on docks that may be fixed or floating
  • Work near and on the water
  • Safely move on, off and in vessels during various tide and weather conditions
  • Possibility of travel within your Dock Experience Manager's territory

The anticipated pay rate for this position is $19/hr.
